Nom Nom Dog Food Recall: Has the Dog Food Ever Been Recalled?

NomNomNow has issued one voluntary recall in its company history. But if you want to feed your dog this brand, you don't need to be concerned. Learn more (and see exclusive discounts) below.

The Dog Tale is reader-supported. We may earn a commission if you buy something through our site; this doesn’t change our recommendations.

These days, pet owners are waking up to the realities of mass-produced kibble; namely, it’s not very nutritious. Human-grade fresh pet food services, such as NomNomNow, have emerged to provide a healthy, convenient alternative.

However, one downside to fresh, gently cooked ingredients that haven’t been scorched into shelf-stable pellets is that there is a greater risk of contamination.

So, has NomNomNow ever issued a recall? We’ll break it down below.

Nom Nom recall history

NomNomNow has issued just one recall in its history as a company. The voluntary recall ran from July 8, 2021, to February 11, 2022. However, the recall was limited to its Chicken Cuisine recipe for cats and was made in response to another company’s contamination.

Nom Nom decided to make the voluntary recall after Tyson Foods reported that some of its chicken was contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes due to an ingredient used in the production process. Tyson Foods is based in Springdale, Arkansas, and is the world’s second-largest processor and marketer of chicken.

As a result, 105,540 pounds of Nom Nom’s cat food were recalled. You can read the FDA’s official enforcement report here.

Since Nom Nom has since discontinued its cat food line (for unrelated reasons, we believe), we recommend reading our Smalls cat food review for another fresh cat food option.

Has Nom Nom Dog Food been recalled?

No, there has never been a Nom Nom Dog Food recall as of the date of publication above.

Although fresh food has a higher risk of contamination (because the food isn’t reduced to shelf-stable kibble), Nom Nom has done an excellent job at maintaining its quality standards and delivering human-grade food to nutrition-conscious dog owners.

In fact, we currently have some of Nom Nom’s dog food in our fridge, and our dog loves it. If you’d like to learn more about the brand, watch us unbox it, and get exclusive discounts, check out our Nom Nom Dog Food review.
