What is the most recent Just Food For Dogs recall?
On January 18, 2018, Just Food For Dogs chose to voluntarily recall three of their dog food meals: Beef & Russet Potato, Fish & Sweet Potato, and Turducken, after one customer reported her dogs were sick after eating the Turducken meal.
The recall was for meals made between November 1, 2017, through January 14, 2018. Since all of Just Food For Dogs’ meals are prepared fresh and shipped promptly, none of these meals are still in circulation.

Why was there a 2018 recall?
These meals were recalled because of the potential for the green beans used in these meals to have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes can affect animals who eat the contaminated food with mild symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. However, it is rare.
Since Just Food For Dogs makes 100% human-edible food, the company wanted to ensure no humans were affected by intentionally or unintentionally ingesting the dog food, or coming into contact with contaminated feces from an affected pet.
What actions were taken?
Just Food For Dogs made the recipes available without green beans until the matter was resolved. Laboratory tests confirmed that the green beans purchased from a restaurant supply distributor were contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall has since been terminated.
Was there a Just Food For Dogs recall in 2022?
Fortunately, the only Just Food For Dogs recall occurred in 2018. It is the company’s only recall to date.

Just Food For Dogs is laser-focused on creating healthy meals for as many dogs as possible. Their highly specialized team of veterinarians created whole food meals that are proven with research to be beneficial to dogs over long-term feeding.
For healthy dogs, they create both fresh-frozen meals and a shelf-stable fresh food line called PantryFresh. The company has also created a prescription line of food to meet the needs of dogs with health issues, such as dog IBD. You can even have custom recipes made, if needed.
Finally, since they have a passion for every dog to eat healthfully, they’ve created a line of Nutrient Blends for pet owners who may have a tight budget, but are willing to cook their own fresh food.
